Pregnant women
cannot receive MMR or Chickenpox immunization, but they
can receive other vaccines like Td. Pregnant or breastfeeding
women or women intending to become pregnant should consult
their own doctors prior to attending their Immigrant Visa
Medical to review the medically acceptable contraindications
for immunization. We cannot exempt people from immunization
unless there is a valid contraindication. You do have
the option of proving immunity with the appropriate antibody
titer blood test. Additional information may be found
at various Web Sites.
Please discuss this with your personal physician.
Written records
of immunization can be obtained from your family physician,
or local public health department. Some but not all the
required immunizations may be obtainable without cost
from your family physician or local public health department.
We recommend that you review the requirements with your
family physician and that you obtain any necessary immunization
prior to your appointment for the Immigration Medical.
